HOW FEE STRUCTURE WORKS
American Estimation does not charge flat rates that penalize small contractors or offer vague ‘it depends’ answers.
Our construction estimating fee is calculated based on the specific scope of your project – ensuring you pay only for the work involved.
We review your plans, assess the scope, trade count, and drawing completeness, then send you a fixed-price fee
proposal before any work begins. No surprises after delivery.
FEE FACTORS
Four factors determine your estimating fee:
Project Type
Residential estimates (single-family, renovations) are typically simpler and lower cost than multi-trade commercial or industrial projects
Project Size
Square footage and number of floors directly affect takeoff time. A 2,000 sq ft home requires different effort than a 200,000 sq ft industrial warehouse.
Drawing Completeness
Full architectural and structural drawings allow faster, more accurate takeoffs. Incomplete or schematic drawings require additional interpretation time.
Number of Trades
A full project estimate covering all 16 CSI divisions takes longer than a single-trade takeoff. We can estimate the full project or selected trades only

At American Estimation we do not provide set fees for estimating as we appreciate the level of detail with any project can vary greatly.
Instead we are happy to provide a no obligation quote for any project from drawings and specifications.
We ask that you send us your drawings via email and we will always provide a quotation to our fees on receipt and within 3 working hours.
All projects are priced accurately by our Quantity Surveyors from the drawings and specifications you provide us with. we also focus our attention on providing an excellent client service.
We take the time to understand your business works, whether this is face to face or over the phone. We understand No building project is ever the same and therefore we do not believe in a “one template fits all” policy.
TURNAROUND TIME
Turnaround time depends on project size and complexity:
- Small / Single Trade: 24 hours
- Medium Commercial / Multi-Trade: 24-48 hours
- Large Commercial or Industrial: 48-72 hours
- Rush Delivery: Available on request
